Knowing the command-line shell is a great skill to gain for an aspirant data scientist. In fact, even if today the most common interfaces are graphical file explorer, learning how to type instructions without a graphical display lets you become more powerful and valuable in this environment.

In the command-line shell, each time a command is entered, the shell runs some other programs, prints their output in human-readable form, and then displays a prompt to signal that it’s ready to accept the next command.
